Christmas is upon us. Some approach it with excitement and some approach it with dread. What gifts must one purchase? Where does one find the best deals? In these challenging economic times, finding a bargain is a much more welcome and increasingly more important. We at TwoSprays understand your concerns and we wish to address them in the best way we can and we will therefore recommend the top fragrances you NEED to get for your loved ones. These top quality fragrances are sure to please and you will be rewarded by the expressions of glee on their faces. Without further ado, let’s get into the thick of things with our Christmas fragrance ideas.
Our Christmas fragrance ideas will include some safe choices and some daring choices. It’s up to you to take the plunge. The safe choices are the generic popular scents we all love to hate.. despite them being high quality, well made fragrances. On the other hand, the daring choices are the more avantgarde, left field selections designed for the more thoughtful, introspective and open minded individual. This theme will spend across all age groups.
Christmas fragrance ideas.
Most teenagers tend to be followers of than creators of trends. This makes our job very easy and what I have also noticed is that most teens will wear just about anything that smells ‘nice’. As a caring friend/relative/parent, you want to influence these malleable tastes into the right direction. However, make one wrong move and they are quick to retort with the most scathing onslaught of unadulterated honestly. You will need to stay within the realm of ‘nice’. Cheap stuff like ADIDAS and EVERLAST may smell adequately ‘nice’, but it sends their idea pf fragrance in the wrong direction. They begin to feel it unnecessary to spend good money of fragrance. It becomes somewhat disposable. Rather than it being an expression of personality and a statement that denotes refined taste, it becomes an accessory to mask bad smells. Not good.
Aquatic Christmas Fragrance Ideas (ozonic/watery)
1. Acqua Di Gio – This is the go-to aquatic. It smells fresh and melony and it has a watery quality to it. If you are really unasure of what to get, Giorgio Armani’s top selling scent will do you just fine. I’ve yet to find anyone who actually despised the scent itself. It’s hated because everyone wears it, but most teens don’t mind it because it smells good and it’s popular. And everything popular is cool to most teens. You can’t go wrong with this.
b) Bvlgari Aqva Pour Homme – Bulgari’s Aqua is a more left field aquatic because ironically, it actually smells exactly like the ocean. It’s decidedly more salty with a briney, saline accord. Where the melon and citrus in Acqua Di Gio are bright, sour and zesty, the seaweed in Aqva adds a dark, brooding effect evocative of clouds, fog or mist, rain and rough seas. It lasts well over 8 hours (impressive for an aquatics) and the projection is excellent.
Oriental Christmas Fragrance Ideas (sweet/spicy)
2. Paco Rabanne 1 Million – Paco’s spicy leather oriental has taken the fragrance world by storm and why should’t it? It’s sweet, unapologetically powerful and it makes one BIG statement. It smells wonderfully refined and while there’s no finesse in its progression, it’s undeniably one of the best fragrances of the modern era. It’s a modern day Le Male. No compliment can top that! It’s popular and most teenagers yearn for it since the girls love it! I’ve even witnessed this scent make grown women swoon. It really is a marvel. It’s difficult to go wrong with this. Just make sure you tell him to go light on the trigger. Less (if there’s such a thing with this fragrance) is definitely more. We think that out of our Christmas fragrance ideas, this is the safest buy.
b) Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin – A more left-field choice is Lolita Lempicka’s Au masculin. Au Masculin is a aniseed-vanilla oriental that packs the proverbial punch. It’s not quite as powerful as 1 million but it’s very close. Where 1 million is dominated by leather, Lolita Lempicka’s masterpiece centers itself around a strong vanilla note. This makes it a much softer, smoother scent and it’s definitely the more elegant of the two. The aniseed note is quite polarizing so be sure your prospect enjoys or at least doesn’t mind aniseed.
Fresh Christmas Fragrance Ideas (citrus/cool)
1. Chanel Allure Homme Sport – Chanel fragrances are always a joy. Allure Homme Sport is a wonderfully smooth, balanced long lasting concoction. It’s a beautiful fresh scent that deserves a place in just about every wardrobe. It’s difficult to go wrong with it because it smells so good. Highly recommended!
2. Issey Miyake L’eau D’issey Pour Homme Intense – unlike it’s exceedingly popular brother, L’eau D’issey intense is a bitter, fresh scent that is as far from an aquatic as you could possibly imagine. It’s predominantly woody and floral with citrus at the top. It IS bitter and you must give this a test run before you decide to buy it.
Animalic / Musky Fragrance Ideas (funky/suggestive)
1. Kiehl’s Original Musk EDT/Oil – What a fragrance! This musk is somewhat sweet and predominantly floral. In all fairness, this is a clean musk, however, it DOES smell ever so slightly dirty (read slightly fecal) in the opening and this is the reason why it is highly talked about in fragrance forums. In truth, this dirtiness is overrated. For the most part, Kiehl’s Musk is a clean floral musk! The oil is puportedly warmer, more potent and funkier. I personally haven’t tested this. The EDT is quite tame.
2. Caron Yatagan – Castoreum, Leather, bitter Artemisia and pine needles are some of the notes found in this monstrosity. Yatagan is intensely difficult to wear. It’s bitter, animalic (read sweaty), heady and really really strange. As an artistic statement, Yatagan is something to be admired. You find yourself continually sniffing, trying to work out just what you are smelling. It is strangely addictive at times.. but most people will NEVER DARE wear it outside. This is the riskiest of our Christmas fragrance ideas.
Woody Christmas Fragrance Ideas (natural/outdoors)
1. Gucci Pour Homme – Overseen by Tom Ford, Gucci PH1 is complete and total cedar overload. I’ve also noticed that all Gucci fragrances are an exercise in the mastery of making wood smell good on human skin. But this is definitely the best of the bunch perhaps barring Gucci Envy which has now been played with and isn’t easy to find. There’s a slight medicinal sweetness here which is reminiscent of the behemoth that is Yves Saint Laurent M7. Both were created under Tom Ford.. coincidence? I don’t think so!
2. Lalique Encre Noire – This is one of the strangest scents I have ever come across. This is a dry vetiver and wood assault. When i tested it, it never actually smelt like a fragrance. It was just this dry bitter inky smell that just seemed to linger on forever. This is as left field as you can get with woody fragrances. Proceed with caution. Unless you are buying for a distinguished and refined nose, I can’t see this being worn often.
We hope our list of Christmas fragrance ideas has made your shopping a bit easier. We will also be compiling a wish-list of fragrances we are simply dying to have in our wardrobe. Thank you for reading and have a merry Christmas.
